Product Review: Charity Miles App

For the last few weeks, I have been using an app on my iPhone called Charity Miles.  It's a completely free app that allows you to give corporate donations to charity on your behalf.  It's great because you can just add it into your runs that you are already doing.  I just turn on the app before I turn on my RunKeeper app and run them both simultaneously.

You are able to choose between a number of great charities: The Nature Conservancy,  ASPCA,  Pencils of Promise, Stand Up To Cancer, Feeding America, Every mother counts, Autism Speaks, The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research, World Food Programme, Wounded Warrior Project, Habitat for Humanity, Achilles International, and The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria.

Once again, it's completely free!  There is no reason not to do it!  And it's not just for runners...walkers and bikers too.  You do have to have a Facebook account in order to log in and you do have to agree to let it post your activity/donation after you've completed it as a way for them to increase awareness.  Small price I'd say!

Straight from their website:
"Charity Miles is an iPhone/Android app that empowers you to earn corporate sponsorships for charity by walking, running or biking.
Just choose a charity and press start. As you walk, run or bike, the app tracks your distance and you earn money for your charity. Bikers earn 10¢ per mile; walkers and runners earn 25¢ per mile, all up to our initial $1,000,000 sponsorship pool.
And this is just the beginning. As you walk, run or bike with Charity Miles, you also help us attract more sponsors to increase our sponsorship pool for everyone.
So please join the movement. And please invite your friends. Because changing the world is a team sport!"

So what are you waiting for?  Go grab your iPhone or Android and download it!
